The Library Staff conduct an Orientation program for the benefit of faculty and new students at the beginning of every academic year. They are taken around the library to familiarize with the available resources and services. Faculties and students desiring to know more about library resources and services or to learn how to use a particular resource like OPAC, E-resources at HELINET and databases etc. should contact any library staff member.
EBSCO DOSS Database TrainingDayananda Sagar College of Dental Sciences library organized the EBSCO DOSS database training session on 30th August 2019 in the department of orthodontics.
The speaker was Mr. Srinivas from the EBSCO information services, New Delhi.
The session continued for one and half hour. He introduced us to the various tools of the EBSCO online platform and also on how to search various kinds of materials such as journal article, book reviews and e-books. The session covered content under the title --- “Academic Search Premier- A multidisciplinary research database containing full-text articles and e-books”. The session was very informative and surely helped the students in getting more information at complete ease. Such orientation program is planned as a regular annual event
Skill Development programme on Career Opportunity for Undergraduates StudentsDayananda Sagar College of Dental Sciences library organized the skill development program on the ‘Career Opportunities’ for undergraduate students on 31.07.2019. Studying abroad has become an appealing option for most of the BDS students. Universities in every major provinces offer degrees in a wide range (Master’s and Bachelor’s degree). Students face a challenge in selecting a subject out of an array of subjects provided to them as their option. To narrow down from this panoply, a career guidance program was conducted on 31-07-2019 at Seminar hall, Department of Orthodontics to create awareness among the interns. Mr. K. Ugandhar ,Manager ,British council Library; Mr. Zulkair Nain, Marketing Consultant ,British Council Library and Ms. Charu Sapra ,Senior Manager ,British Council Library addressed the interns to develop an extra educational boost to increase the chances to ace IELTS. Mr. K Ugandhar and also gave insights on how to approach each section of the IELTS exams, and various tactics to develop skills and strategies needed to improve the IELTS band score. Mr. Zulkair Nain also spoke about the various resources available in British Council Library that will guide the students to prepare them for any of the English-language tests and to increase the probability of being accepted by a foreign university.
